Laughter aside, I'm gonna tell you a lil story. This story is based on a true story which I got the inspiration from everything that i've read since yesterday. Its like its a sign..... *cue X-Files music*
When I was very young, my parents were always working. As a result, I had to stay with my grandparents. My parents rarely came back. Even if they do, I'd be long asleep. Needless to say, my brother is extremely lucky cause they're always back all the time now.
I grew up with only seeing my parents on Sundays, and the occasional weekday. Such was my life that whenever I heard the keys I'd be able to recognise whether it was my mum, dad or grandfather. My grandmother rarely ventured out of the house; only doing so to go to the market.
The few things that I cherished last time was whenever my parents came back early enough, we'd go grocery shopping. Needless to say, it only happened once in a blue moon. On the weekends, we'd all go to the recreation park. If memory serves, its called Lake Garden. Its a beautiful place where we'd all spend our whole day there =)
But I digress. The main story in which I wanna share would be the one time when I went grocery shopping with my parents. Back then, Citrus Park wasn't....Citrus Park. It was called Plaza OUG. We went shopping for groceries there back then.
On one occasion, we were on our way back because the shop was about to close. Then, I saw a very cute toy bunny =)
So...being the little kid back then, I hesitated before asking my mum cause I know how hard was it for money to come by. Then my mum noticed that I stopped so I asked my mum the typical little kid question.
'Mum, can I get this bunny?'
My mum looked at the bunny. Back then, I always watched Bambi with my mum. You know...
You DO know the story right? =P
My mum looked at the bunny. I think she was looking at the price tag too. Then she said,
'This one looks so much like Thumper right?'
'Yup!'
'But the store is closing now. Why don't we come back another day and buy it, ok?'
'Ok....'
Needless to say, I was disappointed. But back then, in my heart, I thought
'Goodbye bunny =('
Because I knew how rare isit that we actually go out grocery shopping. By then, the bunny would most probably be sold out.
That was what I thought.
Well well, whaddya know....It was either days or weeks later, then it was my birthday! =D
My....some birthday. I don't remember how old was I. So, being my mum, we celebrated it with my family. Back then, one of my aunt and uncle each weren't married yet. Looking back from now.....they were young....HAHA. Now my aunt has TWO kids, one of them being my bro's age. My uncle has TWO kids too! The eldest is only 6 this year.
Time flies eh?
So...present time! And my parents gave me a present.
I opened it. Back then, I always slowly opened it. Taking care to avoid tearing the wrapping paper. Its a habit of mine now. My mum passed on this habit. Haha.
Then, I was ecstatic! My mum bought the bunny! I jumped up and down and started hugging and thanking my parents. Throughout the whole time, I've always hugged Thumper to sleep and always brought it with me. =)
Until that fateful day in MELAKA. --"
Fast forward about 4-5 years.
It was supposed to be a few days trip. By then, my bro was about...a few years old so he brought a panda toy my grandfather bought for both of us. I decided to bring Thumper =)
Our whole family took an afternoon nap at the place that we were staying. However, once we woke up we all felt itchy all over =(
BED MITES!!!! Bloody hell --"
We cancelled our rooms and since there were no more rooms available, we went home. I remember it was already dark when we were leaving.
The moment we reached home, my mum announced that we should wash our toys. See, back then....we only thought of the washing machine. Trust me. DON'T DO THAT. When both our toys came back, I was dismayed to see my once lovely and fluffy Thumper become this!
If you can see it with your eyes, you'd know there's something wrong with it. All the fur is clumped together. Worse part was....IT SHRUNK!!! T_____T
CURSE YOU MELAKA HOTEL!!
My bro's story is funnier =P
See, the both of us read a storybook back then, and the panda character was named Soo. Being little unimaginative kids back then, we just named it Soo. Both of our panda's. My granfather went off to China I think, and bought two identical panda's for us. The only way to keep track of it back then was to look at the ribbon. Mine was always neater =)
Now.......
Hint: It suffered the same thing that Thumper suffered.
It shrunk if you compare it with mine and the fur is all clumped together. Now, we call mine Da Soo and my bro's..... Xiao Soo.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! If you don't understand chinese, Da means big. Xiao means small. =P
